To clean the drains, instead of using caustic soda or other products that are terribly corrosive and potentially dangerous, you can pour down the drain ½ cup baking soda and ½ cup white vinegar. Leave it for fifteen minutes and then pour boiling water down the drain to wash away any remaining grease. If you do that once a week or so, you will always have clean, sweet-smelling drains. However, you shouldn’t use this method with plastic drains, because they may melt when you pour boiling water.
