You can call it a salad or a dip or a spread. Whatever you want to call it, one thing is for sure. It is tasty, very easy to make and very healthy! I am giving you the original, plain recipe and an alternative to try. You can also add and subtract ingredients and make your very own humus.
Ingredients ½ cup chickpeas 2 tablespoonfuls tahini 4 tablespoonfuls olive oil ½ small onion 2 cloves garlic Juice of ½ lemon (or more if you like) Tip of the spoon cumin (more if you like) Salt, pepper
Directions
You can either use canned chickpeas or you can boil dried chickpeas that you have put in water to soak since the previous night. Drain the chick peas and put them in the food processor. Add all the rest of the ingredients, except the oil that you add a little at a time. When the chickpeas have a creamy consistency, the humus is ready. Taste and adjust seasoning and lemon juice. Serve in a nice bowl.
If you like you can add various ingredients, according to your liking and your imagination, and obtain a totally different taste.
Ingredients All the above ingredients for the plain humus, plus 1 red pepper chopped 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 small chili pepper chopped (or more if you like) Dash vinegar
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning according to your liking.
You can serve the humus with pieces of toast, crisps or vegetables as a dip, or you can use it as a spread in sandwiches. Just use your imagination and enjoy!
